International Folk Artist SNEZ Brings Her Cardboard Wings Tour to Cruden Bay Folk Club

Cruden Bay Folk Club was delighted to welcome Australian singer-songwriter SNEZ as our Spotlight Performer on Friday 26th June, when she made the fourth stop of her inaugural UK Cardboard Wings Tour.

SNEZ’s visit to Cruden Bay came about in a wonderfully modern way. While planning her first UK tour, she discovered the Cruden Bay Folk Club website and was impressed by the club’s welcoming atmosphere and reputation for showcasing quality live folk music. She reached out directly to the club’s Promotion and Publicity Coordinator, Gordon Mackay, who was only too pleased to help make all the necessary arrangements to include Cruden Bay as one of the tour dates.

The result was a memorable evening of outstanding music and heartfelt storytelling that perfectly embodied the spirit of our club.

Performing songs from her latest album, Cardboard Wings, alongside favourites from her extensive catalogue, SNEZ captivated the audience with her warm personality, engaging stories and beautifully crafted songs. Her music draws inspiration from family, migration, resilience and the simple moments that connect us all, delivered with a voice full of sincerity and emotion.

Travelling with her daughter Ellie and tour support Kerry Grant, SNEZ is undertaking an ambitious grassroots tour of the UK, performing in folk clubs, village halls and intimate venues from England to the far north of Scotland. We were honoured that Cruden Bay Folk Club was chosen as one of the stops on this special journey.

From the moment SNEZ arrived, she received the warmest of welcomes from our members and visitors alike. The relaxed atmosphere, attentive audience and genuine appreciation for live acoustic music made for a truly special evening, with many commenting afterwards on just how enjoyable and inspiring the performance had been.

Cruden Bay Folk Club takes great pride in providing a platform for both established and emerging artists from around the world, and hosting SNEZ was another wonderful example of the international friendships that folk music creates.

We would like to thank SNEZ for sharing her music and stories with us and wish her every success as the Cardboard Wings Tour continues throughout the UK.

We hope this won’t be her last visit to Cruden Bay, and we know she will always receive a warm Aberdeenshire welcome whenever she returns.

With Snez’s permission, we have added video’s of the set she played for us during her visit to our club, along with a selection of her own productions.

If you enjoyed SNEZ’s performance at Cruden Bay Folk Club, there’s plenty more to discover beyond the songs she shared with us. Her official website offers a fascinating insight into the artist behind the music, including the stories that inspired her sixth album, Cardboard Wings, details of her songwriting journey, tour diary, videos, photographs and upcoming performances. You’ll also find information about her previous albums, house concerts, and the community that has supported her throughout more than two decades as an independent Australian singer-songwriter. As her debut UK tour continues through England, Scotland and on to the Orkney Islands, her website provides the perfect way to follow the adventure and learn more about the passion and dedication behind her music.
