Welcome to the Port Erroll Public Hall Online Charity Auction

We’re delighted to present this special online auction featuring a unique collection of music-themed art and prints, all generously donated to raise funds for the ongoing upkeep and improvement of The Port Erroll Public Hall.

These fantastic items – celebrating legends like The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Johnny Cash, and the classic blues era – were originally intended to be auctioned during the Benefit Concert held on Friday 16th May. Due to time constraints on the night, we’re now taking the auction online to ensure everyone has a fair chance to bid.

The auction will run until Friday 30th May, with winning bids to be announced at the next regular Port Erroll Folk Club Night.

Whether you’re a music lover, a collector, or simply wish to support a much-loved local venue, your participation will help keep Port Erroll Public Hall at the heart of our community.

Bid generously – and thank you for your support!

A pre-owned, vintage print of the famous Abbey Road Album Cover.

Title:

Original/Replica Photo of The Beatles’ Abbey Road Album Cover (1969)

Historical Significance:

This image was taken on August 8, 1969, by photographer Iain Macmillan, outside Abbey Road Studios in St. John’s Wood, London. The photo features John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison walking across the zebra crossing on Abbey Road. It became the cover of Abbey Road, the Beatles’ 11th studio album.

Notable Features of the Image:

  • Order of the Beatles (left to right): George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon.

  • Paul McCartney’s barefoot appearance sparked numerous conspiracy theories, including the “Paul is dead” myth.

  • Volkswagen Beetle parked on the left became iconic; its license plate (LMW 281F) was frequently scrutinized by fans.

  • Macmillan had only 10 minutes to shoot the photo while a policeman held up traffic.

  • Only six shots were taken; the fifth was chosen for the album cover.

Cultural Impact:

  • The zebra crossing was declared a Grade II listed site by the UK government in 2010.

  • The image has been widely imitated and parodied in pop culture.

  • Millions of fans visit the crossing annually, recreating the scene.
